Constitution (Abstracts)

Objectives
of the Association
|
|
4.1
|
To maintain and foster the
bonds of friendship among ˇ§permanent residents in Hong Kong and Macau who
have studied in Franceˇ¨ (hereinafter called ˇ§Alumniˇ¨) and individuals with
keen interest in French culture.
|
|
|
|
|
4.2
|
To organize social, cultural,
educational and scientific activities among members of the Association which
may involve the participation of ˇ§French government, French professional
organizations, French educational institutions in Hong Kong or in Franceˇ¨
(hereinafter called ˇ§the Institutionsˇ¨).
|
|
|
|
|
4.3
|
To establish and maintain
social contacts with other educational and cultural institutions in Hong
Kong.
|
|
|
|
|
4.4
|
To promote and cater for the
welfare and interests of Alumni.
|
|
Membership
|
|
6.1
|
For the purpose of registration
of the Association, the number of members of the Association is declared not
to exceed one hundred thousand.
|
|
|
|
|
6.2
|
The Association shall be
comprised of the following categories of members (ˇ§Membersˇ¨):
|
|
|
(a) Ordinary Members;
(b) Associate Members;
(c) Honorary Members; and
(d) Life Members.
|
|
Eligibility
for Membership
|
|
7.1
|
Alumni holding a diploma or
degree equivalent to BAC+3 or above (ˇ§Diplômeˇ¨) conferred by recognized
academic institutes in France, diplôme includes
|
|
|
|
|
|
- Diplôme
de Licence;
- Diplôme
de Maîtrise;
- Diplôme
d'Etudes Universitaires Générales (DEUG.);
- Diplôme
d'Etudes Supérieures Spécialisées (DESS);
- Diplôme
d'Etudes Approfondies (DEA); and
- Doctorat;

|
|
|
or having attended short
courses or exchange programs at any recognized French institutes in France
for a period of not less than 3 consecutive months are eligible to apply to
become Ordinary Members.
|
|
|
|
|
7.2
|
Individuals who have keen
interests in French culture and recognize the objectives of the Association
can apply to become Associate Members.
Full-time students aged 16 or above may join as Associate Members at a
discount on annual membership subscription.
|
|
|
|
|
7.3
|
Individuals who have
contributed or are deemed to be capable of contributing towards the
Association may be nominated as Honorary Members by the Executive Committee
and elected at a General Meeting.
The number of Honorary Members in every year is limited to ten.
|
|
|
|
|
7.4
|
Alumni or Ordinary Members can
apply to become Life Members by paying the Entrance Fee plus at one time a
sum for membership subscription equivalent to ten times the prevalent Annual
Subscription Fee for an Ordinary Member. Such applications will be subject to the approval of the
Executive Committee.

10.1
|
The following Membership Fees
shall apply:
|
|
|
(a) ˇ§Entrance Feeˇ¨ for
application of membership of the Association (free for members joining on or
before 31st December 2004); and
(b) ˇ§Annual Subscription Feeˇ¨,
payment on or before 31st December 2004 will be valid until 31st
December 2005, for maintaining the status of Members.

10.2
|
The rates of Membership Fees
are as follows:
|
|
|
|
|
10.2.1
|
For the first year of the establishment
of the Association:
|
|
|
(a) Entrance Fee is at HK$100, payable by the applicants
for Ordinary Members, Associate Members and Life Members;
|
|
|
(b) Annual Subscription Fee is at
• HK$100 per
calendar year for Ordinary Members;
• HK$200 per
calendar year for Associate Members; and
• HK$50 per 2 consecutive calendar
years for full-time student Members.
|
|
|
For
first-time subscription, if the application is made between 1st July and 31st
December, the Annual Subscription Fee for Ordinary Members and Associate
Members will be extended to the calendar year following the year in which membership
application is made, and to another calendar year extra for full-time student
Members.

|
|
|
|
10.2.2
|
The
rates set out in 10.2.1 may be subject to revision to be recommended by the
Executive Committee and approved by voting at the General Meeting.

|
10.3
|
Membership
Fees are not refundable.
|
